With only one single wide release scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, the major studios have thrown in the towel against the biggest game of the year. Lionsgate and CBS will trot out the Helen Mirren starring Winchester on about 2,400 screens. Tracking shows the Gothic thriller is likely to land in third place over the weekend with an opening around $8.4 million. Meanwhile, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Maze Runner: The Death Cure, will fight over the top spot, with Jumanji expected to eek out a first place finish of around $12 million.
PageBreaks Take: Like the tide receding in the face of a tsunami, the box office will continue to diminish until the release of Black Panther on February 16th.
