In what was otherwise a quiet weekend at the box office, Justice League added $9.7 million to it's domestic total, and in doing so, lifted Warner Bros. past the magical $2 billion mark. The dream factory became the first studio to pass the threshold in 2017, beating perennial box office champ Disney, which is likely to join WB in the $2 billion club following the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th. Despite the relative disappointment with the Justice League total, Warner Bros. has enjoyed a stellar year, with breakout hits in Wonder Woman and It, as well as strong results from Dunkirk, Lego: Batman, Kong: Skull Island, and Annabelle: Creation. The 2017 total marks only the second time the storied studio has reached $2 billion, having grossed $2.1 billion back in 2009 with films such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover, The Blindside, and Terminator Salvation.

PageBreaks Take: Warner Bros. has also excelled overseas this year, passing $5 billion at the global box office for the first time in the studio's history.
