Nielsen has reported that a “significant viewing event occurred” when season 2 of Stranger Things returned to Netflix on October 27th. Within the first three days, episode 1 averaged a broadcast-worthy 15.8 million U.S. viewers and nearly 11 million adults 18-49. Nielsen also said that all nine new episodes put up on the service averaged 4 million total viewers, including 3 million in the important 18-49 demo. In fact, according to Nielsen, 361,000 people watched all nine episodes on the very first day. Netflix has not commented on Nielsen's estimates.

PageBreaks Take: By way of comparison, the October 22nd Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead brought in 11.8 million viewers on a live+same day basis. Needless to say, Netflix has a mega hit in Stranger Things.
