Sunday’s season 7 finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones captured 12.1 million viewers, up a hefty 13% from its previous series high, and up 36% from last season's finale. If you add HBO Now replays and streaming, the total viewers climb to 16.5 million. The 80-minute episode, titled The Dragon and the Wolf is the culmination of a record-breaking GOT season on HBO. It could be a long wait for the 8th and final season of the award-winning show, with the premiere slated for late 2018 or early 2019.
PageBreaks Take: No doubt HBO brass are putting their heads together on possible extensions of this prized franchise. George R. R. Martin may not be available, but look for other members of the creative team to step forward, with a number of potential spinoffs hitting the network in the next few years.
