Groening To Create Disenchantment For Netflix

Neflix announced today that Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, will be returning to television.The streaming service has ordered up twenty episodes of Disenchantment, an adult animated comedy series set in a deteriorating fantasy kingdom.

"Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you," Groening said in a statement.

According to Groening, the show will feature a hard-living young princess named Bean, voiced by Abbi Jacobson ("Broad City"), her elf companion, Elfo (Nat Faxon), and personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). Groening and Josh Weinstein are exec producers for the Ululu Company. Animation will be handled by Rough Draft Studios, which worked with Groening on the series Futurama. The first ten episodes of Disenchantment will premiere on Netflix beginning in 2018.
