War for the Planet of the Apes conquered first place at the box office this weekend, bringing in just over $56 million on about 4,000 screens. The opening was on par with 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but significantly below Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which opened to $72.6 million in 2014. In second place, Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming dropped a precipitous 62% in week two to $44 million. In ten days of release, Spider-Man has brought in $207 million. Universal's Despicable Me 3 finished in third with $19 million and a total after three weeks of $188 million. Sony/TriStar's Baby Driver dropped a solid 33% in its third weekend to $8.7 million. Wonder Woman continued its amazing run, dropping just 30% to $6.8 million. With a domestic total of $380 million, Wonder Woman is quickly closing in on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as the biggest hit of the summer.
