Transformers: The Last Knight had the dubious honor of winning the weekend box office crown, but still disappointing. With $45 million, the fifth film in the Transformers series was the lowest opening by far in franchise history. The last installment, Age of Extinction, brought in $100 million over its first weekend back in 2014. Of course, Paramount will point (somewhat fairly) to the movie's international returns, where The Last Knight scored just under $200 million in 41 markets, including $123 million from China alone.

On a rosier note, Warner Bros.'s Wonder Woman continues to defy gravity, bringing in another $25 million in it's fourth weekend, a drop of only 40%. At nearly $320 million, Wonder Woman is now outpacing Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad, as it moves toward a likely $350 - $380 million final tally. In other holdover news, Pixar and Disney's Cars 3 dipped a steep 55% in its second weekend, adding $24 million for a total of just under $100 million after ten days in release. By comparison, the poorly received Cars 2 pulled in $117 million in its first ten days.
