YouTube announced the launch of their new VR180 video format. The 180-degree format will be compatible with Google's Daydream and Cardboard viewers, as well as Sony PlayStation VR headsets. Unlike 360-degree videos, 180-degree videos don’t feature imagery behind the viewer, and on the web or traditional phones, the content will be formatted to look like standard YouTube videos. YouTube also announced that it has partnered with companies such as Lenovo, LG and Yi, to create new 180VR-compatible virtual reality cameras. The cameras are slated for release later this year, and will come equipped with support for VR180 live-streaming.
